A Butler man is being credited with averting a potential tragedy after another man allegedly threatened children at a bus stop with a rifle.
The incident happened Friday afternoon in the city of Butler.
Peter Schmitt was waiting at the corner of Spang and Morton avenues to get his step-children off the school bus when 55-year-old Timothy Krick appeared from a nearby apartment, according to our news partners at WPXI-TV. Krick allegedly became angry- went back into his apartment- and came out with a rifle.
He then allegedly pointed the gun at the kids and adults. Schmitt was able to punch Krick and get the gun away from him until police arrived.
Krick remains in the Butler County Jail charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
