A local man accused of a stabbing assault in the city of Butler last week is facing additional charges in connection with a different incident.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Mercer Barracks of the State Police, 22-year-old David Demharter of Butler has been charged with felony statutory sexual assault as well as corruption of minors.
A Childline referral notified troopers that Demharter allegedly conceived a child with a 15-year-old girl when he was 21 in early 2019. Demharter later told police that he met the girl at a party at The Grove Apartments in Slippery Rock Township and they also attended several other parties around Slippery Rock University the night the alleged assault occurred. Demharter claimed he did not know the girl’s age until later when she told him she was pregnant but a witness contradicts that statement.
Demharter is also facing felony charges filed by Butler City Police concerning a stabbing during a fight last Tuesday.
