May is National Lyme Disease Awareness Month.
Lyme disease is an acute inflammatory disease caused by the bite of a tick carrying Borrelia bacteria. Some symptoms include a rash, fever, chills, loss of muscle tone or drooping of the face, severe headaches, nerve pain, numbness, and neck stiffness.
There are many tests that can detect Lyme, but at this time there is no vaccine.
