A local woman has passed away following an accident on Route 8 in Butler Township last week.
According to Butler Township Police, 31-year-old Vanessa Morrison of Slippery Rock recently died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident happened around 7:15 a.m. Friday (4/29) in the northbound lane of Route 8 at Bean Street near the former Days Inn.
Morrison’s vehicle was traveling north at a high rate of speed when she went off the road, hitting and shearing a power pole.
A Life Flight medical helicopter was called to land at the Greater Butler Mart to transport Morrison to Pittsburgh where she later died.
The accident caused significant traffic delays and remains under investigation.
