Local veterans traveled to the nation’s capital over the weekend to deliver an important donation.
According to Butler Township Commissioner Sam Zurzolo, a group of about 150 Butler area veterans made the trip down to Washington, D.C. to deliver a check for over $40,000. The money was raised over and above what was needed to bring the traveling Vietnam War Memorial Tribute Wall to Butler last month.
Members of American Legion Post 778 and Butler ROTC presented the additional funds to U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke to be put towards ongoing care and upkeep of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the capitol.
