An area veterans assistance group is holding a dinner this weekend for local Vietnam War vets.
“The Vietnam veterans are invited but it’s not just going to be for them,” organizer Ed Stoughton said. “We wanted to invite their significant others, spouses, if they are remarried or dating. We’re also inviting any widows of Vietnam veterans…they’ve paid the price.”
Stoughton of the Veteran’s Resource Group is one of the organizers of the ‘Welcome Home Dinner’ to be held this Saturday (1/28) at 5 p.m. at the Ford City VFW.
The guest speaker for the evening will be State Senator Don White.
The Veteran’s Resource Group is a relatively new organization with a mission to help veterans in a variety of ways including employment.
“We’re working to help veterans get jobs,” Stoughton said. “Sometimes they just have a hard time finding a job so we’ve started reaching out to certain employers and we’re going to be helping them write resumes. Just simple things that a lot of people take for granted on an everyday basis.”
