A State Police Trooper from Butler is receiving recognition for actions he took in neighboring Allegheny County just over one year ago.
State Police Trooper Josh Osche of Troop D in Butler received the Commendation Medal at the annual department awards ceremony earlier this week.
Osche was off-duty while assisting a motorist when he was struck by a vehicle just after midnight August 24, 2023 on Route 376 in Robinson Township. Osche suffered severe injuries and underwent multiple surgeries as well as intense physical therapy before returning to his job.
A witness who saw the crash, Blair Johnson, managed to drag Osche to safety and was given the Outstanding Citizenship Award for his actions.
