A couple of local students are included among the 21 across the state receiving a nomination for a service academy from U.S. Senator Bob Casey.
In order to attend the Air Force Academy, West Point, the Naval Academy, or the Merchant Marine Academy students must receive a congressional nomination as part of the application process.
Butler County resident Reva Kalbhor received a nomination to the Air Force while Cecelia Crowley received a nomination to the Military academy.
These students and others took part in an interview with an independent Service Academy Board made up of local academy alumni and veterans. They were also evaluated on factors such as academic record, extracurricular achievements, leadership, and character.
