Students, staff, and administration at Seneca Valley’s Ryan Gloyer Middle School will remember their facility’s namesake fallen soldier at an upcoming presentation.
A ceremony is planned for Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the Intermediate High School Auditorium to present information to students about Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Gloyer, a Seneca Valley graduate, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2016 at the age of 34.
This event will include the family of Gloyer, several Seneca Valley alumni, and at least one member of the U.S. Army Special Forces. Administrators will also recognize a recent fundraiser by Ukrainian students at the school which raised over $5,000 for a charity that is assisting Ukrainian children and families.
Ryan Gloyer Middle School, home to Seneca Valley seventh and eighth graders, was renamed in 2018 due to efforts by several students who were moved and inspired by Ryan’s story.
