A local resident has started a program to help handicapped and special needs kids hunt.
Dan Burns of Chicora is calling the event ‘Nevin’s Hunting Friends’ after his 9-year-old son Nevin who loves to hunt but has difficulty doing so because of a health issue.
The inaugural hunt will take place October 22-24 at a 700-acre farm in Eau Claire. The farmer donated the land to the program.
The parents of interested children are encouraged to fill out an application as soon as possible. The deadline was Sept. 1 but has been extended.
Applications are available on the Facebook page ‘Nevin’s Hunting Friends,’ by calling 724-822-5757 or emailing Dan ([email protected]).
