A few local municipalities have been awarded state grant funding to help with park improvement.
The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources recently announced that the 2022 Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants include projects in Jackson, Jefferson, and Marion Townships as well as Zelienople Borough.
Jackson will receive over $224,000 for further development of Jackson Township Park including construction of a pedestrian walkway and a concession/comfort station as well as ADA access and landscaping.
Jefferson was awarded $555,000 to use for rehabilitation of the Southeastern Butler County Pool in Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park to include renovation of the pool and decking as well as installation of a pool slide along with filtration and recirculation systems.
Marion will receive $50,000 for construction at the Marion Township Community Park that includes play equipment with safety surfacing.
Zelienople was also awarded $50,000 to be used for work at Zelienople Community Park to include renovation of the amphitheater.
A total of over $90 million will be distributed to over 330 projects across the state to plan, acquire, and develop public parks, recreation areas, trails, river access, and conservation of open space.
