A ceremony was held Wednesday as the final steel beam was placed into the new Veterans Affairs Health Care Center in Center Township.
The ‘Topping Out’ ceremony celebrated the construction progress of the new two-story facility, which sits off North Duffy Road on the former Herald Farm. Veterans and their families were invited to sign the beam before it was placed.
Officials say the building will provide several services to veterans including primary care, specialty care, mental health, dental, pathology, radiology and women’s health. Services will also continue to be provided at the main VA Butler Healthcare campus in Butler Township.
Cambridge Healthcare Solutions of Virginia is building the Health Care Center and will then lease it to the VA.
It is scheduled to open in the fall of 2017.
