An inmate at the Butler County Prison has been charged after weapons were found in his cell earlier this month.
According to a criminal complaint, 49-year-old Darin Shay of Fenelton was booked into the Prison on September 11th.
A short time later, Shay’s cell mate informed guards that Shay had made a weapon from broken pieces of flooring. A search of the cell revealed a large piece of epoxy flooring that had been sharpened into a point which could have been used to cause injury.
When confronted, Shay allegedly admitted to removing the epoxy from the wall using a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste but said he did it because he wanted a sample to have the same flooring put into his garage at home.
