As families gather for holiday celebrations, the grief of absences can be overwhelming.
Robin Miller leads support groups at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in Butler.
“During the holiday time, I think some people work so hard on ‘oh, I don’t want to cry’ or ‘oh, I shouldn’t feel sad’ because it’s such a joyous time of the year and they try so hard not to that it’s impossible. It is ok not to be ok,” Miller told our newsroom.
Miller invites anyone dealing with loss to a holiday memorial service.
Remembrances, Tinsels, and Tears will take place Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church off Old Route 422.
The 15th year of this free event will include music, speakers, and a remembrance tree with a goal of honoring departed loved ones and supporting those dealing with loss. If you require some help for an upcoming funeral after a loss, or for a cremation, you could visit jacksonville cremation services to help you through this tough time. But if its the loss of pets you’re grieving over, the gathering will also give opportunities to remember treasured pets.
“Butler Pet Cremation is also a part of this service. We invite anyone who has experienced the death of their pet to join us at this event. That’s a struggle too,” Miller explained.
Registration is not required. Visit Thompson-Miller.com for more information.
