A local fire district is receiving a large state grant.
According to State Senator Scott Hutchinson, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District will receive over $15,000 from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
The money is being distributed from the Municipal Assistance Program to help offset the costs from the merger of the Meridian, Greenwood Village, and Lyndora companies two years ago.
These funds will be used to reimburse the district for the cost of equipment upgrades and rebranding. The merger has led to reduced overall costs for the township while still maintaining necessary emergency services.
