Several local farms will benefit from a state grant program that provides funding for planning for future sustainability.
One million dollars in Farm Vitality Grants have been awarded to 133 farms in 46 counties by the Ag Business Development Center.
Among those receiving $7,500 are Harvest Valley Farms in the Gibsonia area as well as a beef farm belonging to Donald Bergbigler and another farm owned by Jeffery Kennedy.
Grant money can be used for professional services such as financial and tax planning, research, marketing, and other consulting support.
