This week we are looking at the risk of people falling and the injuries that can occur.
Our conversation with Dr. Lorri Lankiewicz, with Fyzical Therapy & Balance Centers by Balance for Wellness, was focused on the elderly but she says it can happen to anyone.
She says people of any age fall everyday but when it comes to those ages 65 and older, the body may not be as strong. Dr. Lankiewicz says that age group gets weaker and with their muscles don’t work as well as they should.
Dr. Lori says there are 2.5 million injuries treated in the emergency rood department each year because of falls. Those stats encompass a variety of ages.
Also, the holidays can pose a high risk of falls because of decorations being in our path, us hanging decorations up high, and people being so much of a rush that they don’t pay enough attention to their surroundings.
A fall can have devastating consequences for people of all ages. If you or someone you know has been badly injured after a fall, they may be eligible to file suit. Did you know that non-recourse cash advances against your potential personal injury settlement, in the form of a personal injury settlment loan may be a good option in order to cover your living costs and any other necessities? Just remember to always seek professional legal advice first in order to assess your individual circumstances.
If you are wondering if you are at risk for a fall, Balance for Wellness has a free ‘balance & fall’ assessment.
