There’s been a dramatic drop in newly reported COVID cases for Butler County this past week.
According to the Department of Health, there were just shy of 500 cases over the last seven days. That’s down almost 700 from the previous week.
There’s also been a drop in local hospitalizations. As of yesterday morning, Butler Memorial Hospital was treating 28 patients for the coronavirus, with one in the ICU. That’s the fewest people hospitalized with COVID at the hospital since late September.
Statewide hospitalizations are also down about 1,000 compared to last week, with more than 3,100 receiving treatment.
However, Butler County did report 15 additional COVID deaths since last Friday, bringing the death toll to 690.
