The Community Health Clinic of Butler County celebrated 10 years of service on Thursday.
The organization offers free health care, dental, wellness and behavioral health services to those without insurance. The clinic serves those ages 19 to 64. All must submit an application and be accepted for care.
All the nurses and doctors that work at the clinic do so on a volunteer basis. Officials say the majority of nurses have retired from the Butler Health System. The doctors are working physicians in the community.
During Thursday’s celebration, the clinic was renamed the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center after Jean Purvis, who officials say was the driving force in getting the clinic started.
“I am deeply touched,” Purvis said Thursday. “I have to say that I really think I represent all of the people who worked so hard for a whole year to get this clinic started, and everybody else that has worked so hard and given so much to keep us going for nine years.”
The clinic is located on Bonnie Drive in East Butler.
