While many parts of our area did not feel effects from Winter Storm Jonas, a local basketball team is finally home after the storm trapped them on the PA Turnpike.
The Duquesne University men’s basketball team on Friday night was traveling home from a game in Washington DC when the storm stranded them on the turnpike between the Bedford and Somerset exits.
The team, along with nearly 500 other vehicles, had to wait for nearly 30 hours until help arrived. Players passed the time by talking to busses carrying high school students, among other activities.
The Dukes arrived in Pittsburgh around 10:30pm Saturday night.
