The United States Attorney General Merrick Garland is honoring a local western Pennsylvania Attorney.
Jessica Smolar is an assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
She’s being honored for her work on a case that saw a couple plead guilty to conspiracy to communicate restricted data related to a warship.
She was selected from over 800 nominees in 2022 and 2023.
