A couple local projects are receiving funding from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission.
The Commission announced money awarded as part of Transportation Alternative Projects (TAP) including funds to improve the Butler-Freeport Community Trail. Over 4 miles in Summit, Jefferson, and Winfield Townships will be repaved and drainage work will be done to allow the trail to last longer.
Also in the southern portion of the county, Cranberry Township has been awarded funds to improve pedestrian conditions on Rowan Road. That money will go towards constructing additional sidewalks and crosswalks as well as improving the streetscape with trees.
A total of nine projects and over $3 million will be spent as part of the TAP this year in order to create, convert, or enhance bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
