Cooperation and productivity are the goals of the person chosen to fill the vacant seat on Butler City Council.
“My involvement with multiple organizations has allowed me to bring a lot of groups together on a single purpose and goal,” Kenny Bonus said. “I’ve been able to help groups recognize what our true mission is and try to get us working together to go in the same direction…to be productive.”
Bonus was chosen through a scoring system by the four current members of council. The 28-year-old Certified Public Accountant with a home office on West Cunningham Street. He will officially take the oath of office on Thursday.
Although Bonus has an accounting background, he will serve in the role of Streets Supervisor. That doesn’t mean he won’t contribute when the discussion turns to city finances.
“I think I can contribute to discussions when it comes to the city’s finances and also when different budgets are presented just to give a little bit of insight from a certified public accountant’s standpoint,” he said Tuesday.
Bonus currently serves as a member on the board of four local non-profit organizations. He does plan on speaking to former Councilman Rick Schontz to get up to speed on the Streets Department.
