The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds 7-3 Tuesday. Pirates starting pitcher Francisco Liriano did not allow a run on three hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out 10. Andrew McCutchen and Jung Ho Kang each homered for the Pirates. Aramis Ramirez made his first career start at first base last night.
The Pirates gained a game on the first place St. Louis Cardinals, who were defeated 8-5 by the Chicago Cubs. The Bucs are now 4-1/2 games back. The Pirates and Reds play again tonight at 7:15pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:45pm. J.A. Happ will start for the Pirates tonight. (4-1, 1.57 ERA).
