The Butler Area School District has a new varsity girls basketball coach.
The board has hired Joseph Lewandowski to replace Dorothea Epps after Epps resigned from the position last month. Lewandowski will receive a salary of nearly $6,500 per year. Gerald Markle was also hired as assistant coach.
Lewandowski was chosen after a standard hiring process that first narrowed applicants down to five or six for an interview, and then two were selected for a second interview.
Lewandowski was previously a varsity boys basketball coach at Butler and has experience at many different levels of coaching the sport.
