A new bottle “handling” fee for new items could affect liquor and wine customers.
The Liquor Control Board unanimously approved the new charge Wednesday, which will increase the fee for new spirits by 5 to 7 cents per bottle and from 3 to 22 cents for new wines or new vintages of a brand.
Items listed after August 1st will have the fee applied. The new charges don’t apply to existing products.
The agency portrayed the fee as minimal but experts say it could result in higher prices.
