A teenager is bringing a lawsuit against the Glade Run Corporation in regard to alleged sexual abuse that occurred at the Zelienople facility.
The unnamed 15-year-old now lives in North Apollo and was 13 when the abuse occurred. The suit was filed in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
Attorney Michael J. Pisanchyn Jr told our newsroom that the young man’s goal with the suit is not money, instead he asked the attorney to “do everything you can to close this place down.”
Glade Run was investigated last year by the PA Department of Human Services for allegations of sexual abuse. No criminal charges were filed against the facility and a settlement was reached with the state for changes to be made in order for a license to be restored.
Glade Run Lutheran Services is a residential treatment facility which houses about 100 young people between the ages of 8 and 21. In a statement, the agency says that they cannot discuss allegations but safety of clients remains their first priority.
