Lawmakers will return to Harrisburg this week to tackle the second part of the budget.
The state House and Senate have agreed to a $32 billion budget, which was sent to Governor Tom Wolf. Now, lawmakers must reconvene to figure out how to pay for it.
Local lawmaker Rep. Daryl Metcalfe of Butler spoke out against what he termed “backwards budgeting.”
“There’s not a family in this state that gets to operate their household in a way that they can spend money today and not know how they’re going to pay for it,” Metcalfe said.
The revenue package will need to take into account a gap of nearly $2 billion.
