State lawmakers are offering their reactions to last night’s State of the Union address by President Biden. Unsurprisingly, most statements fell along party lines.
Republican Congressman Mike Kelly of Butler said he was disappointed in the President’s thoughts on inflation and rising prices. However, he did acknowledge support for Biden’s statements on funding the police and standing with Ukraine.
Republican Senator Pat Toomey said he appreciated Biden’s sentiments on the Ukraine and hoped that “his actions match his rhetoric and he will impose the comprehensive sanctions against Russia that I, and my Republican colleagues, have urged.”
Meanwhile Democratic Senator Bob Casey offered his support for the President. He said that Biden has offered strong international leadership in the crisis in Ukraine and led the way on a new infrastructure bill. He also said that Democrats need to work on lowering costs for families.
