Organizers are calling recent food collection efforts to benefit the Kids Weekend Backpack Program a success and thanking participants.
The Butler Education Association and Partners in Education organized a school-wide food drive with students and staff donating enough food to nearly fill an entire box truck.
As part of this collection, students at Northwest donated non-perishable items with Mrs. Collins’ Room 6 collecting the most with nearly 500 pieces. Collections by the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation also took place at recent Butler Basketball games.
Volunteers recently spent countless hours organizing the donations and stocking shelves. Hundreds of students in the district’s elementary schools benefit from this program on a regular basis.
