The latest tests done on the water at Summit Township Elementary School reveal there are still unacceptable levels of lead and copper in the water.
The tests were done a week ago.
The district said the sample from the school’s well water indicated a very low lead level and a “below detection limit” for copper. The sample collected from the raw water tap, located in the boiler room, had higher levels of both lead and copper.
The district says the levels from the raw water tap are “over the action level,” meaning action needs to be taken to correct them.
Summit students will report to Broad Street Elementary on Monday after being off school since Tuesday. Head of the Summit Water Project Team Dr. William Pettigrew said Thursday he expects students to attend Broad Street through March 31, or longer.
