The latest round of water testing at Butler Area School District’s Summit Elementary School revealed no traces of lead and very small levels of copper.
The district says the testing was done on March 9. No lead was detected and the copper that was found was lower than the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s action level.
Testing will continue every few weeks through the remainder of the school year, according to Superintendent Brian White.
Earlier this month, the district said a water test done in February revealed a level of copper that was above the state’s action level. Officials believe that was due to water sitting in the lines.
Summit Elementary was closed last year because of high levels of lead and copper. Students returned to the school in January. The school used to receive water from a well but is now connected to a public water line.
