Kyle Larson won the Nascar Cup race at Richmond Saturday night. It was his fourth win of the season. 16 drivers, led by top seed Martin Truex, Jr. begin the playoff Chase this Sunday at Chicagoland.
Matt Kenseth was in the hunt early Saturday for his first win of the season, starting on the pole and leading eighty-nine laps before a strange incident in the second half of the race sidelined the Number-20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. With cars entering pit road under caution, an ambulance driver reportedly failed to follow NASCAR instructions and began rolling through the entrance to pit road on his way to the trackside care center. As drivers suddenly hit the brakes to avoid contact, Kenseth slid into the back of the car ahead of him and the front of his Camry was caved in – resulting in a thirty-eighth-place finish for Kenseth, who still qualified for the playoffs. Kenseth, Chase Elliott and Jamie McMurray were the drivers without a victory this season to make the Chase grid.
