After the loss of K9 Officer Gunner, Butler City Police have been receiving support and donations from the community and the country.
Members of American Legion Post 117 recently made a $5,000 donation to the Butler City Police K9 Fund.
“We are thankful for the support of this generous Butler City organization,” Butler City Police Chief Bob O’Neill said Friday.
O’Neill says the department has received numerous heartfelt cards and donations of all sizes since the passing of 7-year-old Gunner late last year.
“We have received letters of support from around the country,” he said. “The donations have ranged from $5 and heartfelt cards, to his large donation, and everywhere in between.”
These donations allow the Butler City Police Department to move closer to their goal of raising $50,000 to purchase, train and outfit two K9’s for the department.
