A large number of people again attended the Butler City Council meeting to make their feelings known about a possible anti-discrimination ordinance.
Although the ordinance was not on the city agenda Thursday night, close to 80 people attended the meeting-which needed to again be moved to the Butler City Fire Hall to accommodate everyone.
A total of 17 people addressed council for up to three minutes each with nine in favor of an anti-discrimination ordinance and eight opposed. The ordinance was originally proposed in 2012 to create a Human Rights Authority within the city.
Councilman Mike Walter said there are no immediate plans to put the addition of a ordinance onto the city agenda but talks to reach a common ground continue between community members.
