Democrat Congressman Conor Lamb will represent the newly-formed 17th Congressional District, that includes parts of Cranberry Township.
Lamb defeated Congressman Keith Rothfus for the seat during Tuesday’s general election in the only race in the country that featured two incumbents.
In Butler County, Rothfus defeated Lamb with 53 percent of the vote (about 4,400 votes) to Lamb’s 47 percent (about 3,800 votes). Unofficial results show Rothfus winning each individual precinct in Cranberry Township.
Aside from Cranberry Township, the new district also includes all of Beaver County and most of western Allegheny County.
Conor Lamb, 33, is a former federal prosecutor and a veteran. Earlier this year he won a special election for the 18th District. Keith Rothfus, 56, has served in Congress since 2011.
