Chip Ganassi Racing has released driver Kyle Larson after his racial slur Sunday night during an iRacing event. Ganassi said he was forced to make the move to avoid losing sponsors for his #42 car that would have bankrupted the team. Larson made the comment to his virtual spotter during a microphone check. He has since apologized.
The World of Outlaws issued a statement Tuesday that Larson could continue racing there if he completed sensitivity training within the next 30 days. Larson is a frequent competitor in the organization and is a team owner.
