Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov took home hockey’s three biggest awards at the NHL Awards show last night. He won the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s top scorer. He also won the Ted Lindsay Award, which is the league MVP as voted on by players, and took home the Hart Trophy, voted on by media. Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was one of three Hart finalists with Edmonton’s Connor McDavid.
Ryan O’Reilly of the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues won the Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward. Calgary’s Mark Giordano won the Norris Trophy for best defenseman. Barry Trotz won the Jack Adams Coach of the Year award. Trotz is now head coach of the New York Islanders, and won the award with Washington in 2016. Boston’s Don Sweeney won GM of the year.
