The Valley News Dispatch has named Knoch pitcher Cole Shinsky their player of the year. Shinsky had a record of 10-0 this season with a 1.29 ERA. He won five games in the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs that included victories in each of the title games. The Knights won their first WPIAL and state baseball championships in school history. Four of Shinsky’s teammates were named to the Valley News first team.
Shaler graduate Geno Thorpe is leaving the Penn State basketball program and will transfer to South Florida after sitting out one season. Thorpe averaged just under nine points per game for the Nittany Lions as a sophomore last season.
