The four-year long contract dispute between the South Butler School District and its teachers did affect the school year for students.
The teachers went on strike in March, which pushed the school year back into mid-June.
Friday is the last day of school for Knoch students. Commencement will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held outside at the football stadium.
The valedictorian for the South Butler Class of 2018 is Jack Ibinson. He will speak tonight on the theme: ‘The Past, Present & Future.’
Ibinson says he got inspiration for his speech by reflecting on his time at Knoch.
“I’m going to touch on some past experiences…things that everyone in our class can relate to,” he said. “Some fond memories and what this school, and district, has taught us in general.”
Ibinson will head to Penn State University this fall to major in immunology and infectious disease.
Top students Matt Gore and Taylor Dzikowski will also speak.
