The Knoch Knights ran their section leading record to 7-0, and extended their consecutive winning streak to 16 games with an easy win over the Yough Cougars on Friday night in Saxonburg. Senior Brady McKee scored all of his 10 points in the first quarter as the Knights jumped out to a 25 – 6 advantage, and never looked back.
With just a minute and ten seconds gone in the second half the Knights put the game into the Mercy rule and cruised to a 80-32 victory. Knoch’s starters were all on the bench mid-way through the third quarter – Scott Fraser finished the night with 13, Jared Schrecengost and Jake Scheidt each added 11, to go with McKee’s 10.
With the streak now at 16 games, the Knights will try and equal the 2002-03 team’s 17 in-a-row when they face their toughest foe of the season in the Highland Rams next Tuesday night in Natrona Heights. Knoch and Highlands shared the section title last season, and the Knights would like nothing more than to win the championship outright. WISR’s coverage begins at 7:15 with the pre-game show on 680AM, wisr680.com, and the TribLIVE High School Sports Network.
