The new acting secretary of health in Pennsylvania is encouraging state residents to be responsible with COVID cases surging.
Keara Klinepeter officially took over the Department of Health’s top job earlier this month and she says no new restrictions are on the table. She adds that since the emergency order has ended, the Department of Health has moved their top priority to providing residents the necessary information.
“Certainly, the Constitutional authority that we have are different at this time. And we’ve certainly heard people’s perspective that they would like to make local decisions, so that’s really what we’re leaning on,” Klinepeter said “And it’s really the DOH’s responsibility that we’re providing accurate and scientifically driven information so people can make those decisions.”
Klinepeter says that getting vaccinated and boosted are still the state’s main strategy to handling the pandemic.
