The Kids’ Weekend Backpack Program has won an online competition and will receive money that will go towards their efforts.
The organization, which is run out of the Butler High School, was up against Paw Across Pittsburgh Animal Rescue in a contest between local non-profits.
Facebook users went online to cast a vote for the winner. The contest wrapped up on Tuesday morning. Just under 6,000 votes were cast. The Backback Program won by just under 1% of the vote. To be exact, it was 49.6% to 50.4%.
On the Backpack Program’s Facebook page, they thank the community for the help. The program will now receive $1,500. The program offers food to area kids.
