Kenny Rogers has been touring for the past five-plus decades, and now the legendary singer says it’s time to retire from the road. Kenny appeared on NBC’s Today show on Friday (September 25th) to announce that his upcoming 2016 tour will be his last.
He told Today show hosts Carson Daly and Savannah Guthrie: [“It’s happily sad or sadly happy — I’m gonna do a big world-wide tour and it’s gonna be my last. I’m gonna say goodbye at that point, and it’s . . . I’ve done this long enough, you know? . . . I’m sure I will miss it. I swore that I would do this until I embarassed myself, and I’m getting to where I don’t walk around well. I don’t . . . So I found some new humor. I guess that’s the good thing. My mobility is really driving me crazy.” Details and dates for Kenny’s final world tour will be announced in the coming months.
Kenny’s new holiday album, Once Again It’s Christmas, is in stores now. The project features collaborations with Alison Krauss and Jennifer Nettles, among others.
