Kenny Chesney took over historic Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, for the second time in his career on Saturday (June 20th). Kenny performed more than 24 songs, including his latest Number One hit, “Wild Child,” featuring surprise guest Grace Potter. He told the crowd, “A couple days ago, I got to call Grace Potter and tell her not only are we playing Lambeau Field, we have a #1 record.”
The two also performed “You And Tequila,” followed by the presentation of a five-tiered cake and a giant margarita in honor of Grace’s birthday. Kenny led the crowd of 53,363 in singing “Happy Birthday” to his frequent duet partner.
Kenny said, “To be able to surprise Grace like that? Talk about awesome. We have had so many adventures, made some really great music . . . The look on her face hearing that crowd sing was beyond any gift I could’ve given her, and no one appreciates the fans more.”
Later in the set, Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy joined Kenny for the set closer, “The Boys of Fall.” Coach McCarthy signed a Packers helmet, which Kenny gave to a young girl.
Kenny plays his next stadium on June 27th at Centurylink Field in Seattle, Washington, along with co-headliner Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell and Old Dominion.
