The Karns City Gremlins defeated the Bedford Bisons 21-17 Friday in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs. Karns City rushed for 317 yards in the game. Collin Dunmyre led the Gremlins with 111 yards and a touchdown. Chandler Turner and Maverick Kelsea also scored touchdowns for Karns City.
The Gremlins will meet WPIAL Double-A champion Aliquippa this Friday at North Allgheny high school in the state quarterfinals. Kick-off is 7pm. Aliquippa is now 12-0 after defeating South Fayette 44-38 to win the WPIAL championship Saturday at Heinz Field.
In the other WPIAL Championship games:
Central Catholic defeated Penn-Trafford 24-17 to win the Quad-A title. Central will meet State College Friday in the PIAA quarterfinals. Thomas Jefferson won the Triple-A title over Central Valley 20-6 and will travel to Erie Friday to face Cathedral Prep.
Clairton shut out Jeanette 40-0 to win the Single-A championship.
