June is National Natural Gas Safety Month and Columbia Gas of PA reminds residents to take precautions with natural gas.
The public should look for blowing dirt, listen for a hissing sound, or smell an additive to the gas like rotten eggs when trying to detect a possible gas leak.
If a gas leak is detected, you should immediately evacuate the area, call 911, tell others to stay away, and explain the situation to emergency responders.
You should not use anything that could cause a spark, try to operate a pipeline valve, or open windows and doors to ventilate. For more information, visit ColumbiaGasPA.com/SmellandTell.
