A longtime Butler County judge is set to retire at the end of the year.
Judge William Shaffer announced he was stepping down from full-time work on the Butler County Court of Common Pleas at the end of the year.
Shaffer will continue as a senior judge, meaning he can work around 50 percent of the job that a full-time common pleas judge does.
County commissioners say the decision of whether or not Shaffer will be replaced comes from the Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts.
