Pennsylvania Labor and Industry Secretary Kathy Manderino stopped by a popular Mercer County local business Tuesday as part of the statewide “Jobs That Pay” tour.
Manderino visited Wendell August Forge in Springfield Township and was accompanied by local Rep. Tedd Nesbit, who represents portions of both Mercer and Butler counties.
Wendell August has been in operation for 90 years and currently employs about 75 people.
State officials applauded the business for offering family-sustaining jobs and keeping the manufacturing facility local.
The tour is an effort to promote good-paying, family-sustaining jobs and career paths available to job seekers, and to listen and learn from employers and employees about workforce development needs.
