An area hospital is planning on discontinuing childbirth services.
Jameson Hospital in New Castle will no longer support obstetrical services effective September 1st of this year.
The decision to make the move was made as a result of a loss of qualified physicians and the inability to recruit new obstetricians.
Jameson will still be able to provide emergency care to pregnant women then transfer them to a different location.
Employees working in the maternity care center will be able to bid on available positions within the Jameson Health System.
